Hi! My name is Lianna Jaime and I am a Sophomore pursuing a Family and Child Sciences major with a minor in Psychology and an Interdepartmental Disabilities certificate. I plan on using my degrees to attain my ultimate goal in life of becoming a child psychologist, as working with children is a passion of mine. Due to my love for working with children, I am also considering potentially working in the educational field as an elementary school teacher. While I am unsure where my future will take me or what it will bring, I hope that I end up back in my hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since I was little, I have been very close to my family and intend on living near them or at least visiting them frequently when I am older.
I consider my prior experiences using technology in an educational setting to be very helpful and contributed to my success as I grew older. Since elementary school, I remember utilizing computers and laptops to complete activities and other phonetic devices to learn. These technologies created a learning environment that was both entertaining and informational. As I grew older and entered middle school and high school, more advanced technologies were introduced to make the learning and teaching experiences of both students and teachers more effective. One example of these updated devices, is the SmartBoard which allowed my classmates and I to become more engaged with the lesson as it emphasizes the importance of interaction. I truly did appreciate the opportunities I was given to use technologies in the classroom as I think they played a large role in my education.
Through this course I hope to not only learn but feel confident in navigating technological applications like Excel, Microsoft word, and PowerPoint. No matter what my career path entails, I believe that knowing how to use these platforms will be very helpful for me and used to my advantage. In addition, I hope this course will demonstrate and illustrate proper ways to use technological devices in an educational classroom, in the case that I may become a teacher. With our society being led predominately by the internet and technology, I hope the course will overall prepare my to be successful in the future in terms of this technological trend.
